Media Alert/Photo advisory

On Tuesday March 26, The Get REAL Movement and Toronto Ouest Secondary School will host a unique workshop to launch “LGBTQr Code”, an innovative t-shirt awareness campaign aimed at high school-aged students. There are two stylish tees, each displaying a QR code on the front. A quick scan with a student’s android or iphone will unlock a message unique to the LGBTQ community like: Is being gay a choice? Or how can I deal with bullying at school, stemming from my identity?

The workshop will cover:

  • The importance of inclusive education that recognizes the issues LGBTQ+ youth face
  • The importance of building community through sharing personal stories and experiences promoting inclusion within schools
  • The LGBTQr Code Campaign, an innovative means to tie these concepts together though T-shirts and a microsite, all supported by students
